Practical Skills You Can Use for Life
Building It Better NI provides beginner and improver workshops designed to make practical DIY and trade skills accessible, enjoyable and useful.
Our hands-on courses help participants build confidence with tools, understand practical techniques and develop skills they can use around the home and in everyday life.
Whether you want to learn how to safely use power tools, carry out straightforward home maintenance, understand basic plumbing and electrics, develop woodworking skills or become more confident looking after your car, our training gives you the opportunity to learn by doing.
You do not need previous experience. Our courses are designed to help you start at your own level, ask questions and practise in a supportive environment.

From assembling furniture and hanging items securely to basic maintenance and understanding how things work, practical knowledge can save time, reduce unnecessary call-outs and make looking after your home less daunting.
A Safe & Supportive Learning Environment
Learning something new should feel comfortable, encouraging and empowering.
Our women-focused sessions provide a welcoming environment where participants can develop practical skills, ask questions and learn without feeling intimidated or judged.
Led by experienced professionals, the workshops are practical, approachable and designed to help each participant progress at a pace that works for them.
The benefits often go beyond the skills themselves. Participants learn together, solve problems together and build connections with other women while developing greater confidence and independence.
